More about
Residential Care in Balcombe
Choosing residential care for a relative in Balcombe is a significant step, and we try to make it feel manageable rather than daunting. Crossways is a small, family-run home where every resident is known properly and cared for as an individual. With space for just 25 residents, our team has the time to understand each person fully, the life they have led, the family around them, and the small comforts that make their days feel right.
Balcombe families choose us for the genuine warmth of the home, for a long-serving and capable team, and for the reassurance of fine care close at hand. Crossways is in the village of Lindfield, a short distance from Balcombe, so a loved one stays near the village and countryside they know. Whether you are planning ahead or need a place at short notice, we will talk it through gently, in plain words, and with no pressure.
Reassurance when you cannot always be there
Not every family is able to visit every day, and life in and around Balcombe can be busy, with relatives often working or living further afield. One of the greatest comforts a home can offer is confidence, the knowledge that a loved one is genuinely well cared for, content and safe, even on the days you cannot be present. Our small size and settled team mean residents are always known and never overlooked, which is exactly the reassurance families tell us they need.
Care shaped around each person
We look after people aged 65 and over, including couples and partners who wish to remain together, with support on hand at every hour of the day and night. Some residents need only light help to keep their independence, others need more, and our qualified carers respond quietly to whatever each person requires, from personal care and medication to companionship and conversation. Dignity, kindness and respect guide all that we do.
A room that feels like home
Each room is decorated individually, and we encourage residents to bring their own furniture, photographs and treasured belongings so it feels familiar from the very first night. Crossways is a handsome detached house with a secure garden and a summer house for warmer days, and a lift and a chair lift make every floor easy to reach.
Full days and good food
Our chef cooks fresh on the premises each day, with a real choice at every meal and dietary needs gladly catered for. The days are full too, with a changing programme of activities from gentle exercise and quizzes to baking, crafts, music and visiting entertainers. Family and friends are welcome to call in whenever they like, and are always invited to stay and share a meal with their loved one.
Easy to reach from Balcombe
Lindfield is a short drive from Balcombe and well connected across Mid Sussex by road and rail, which makes visiting straightforward for relatives travelling locally or from further afield. Crossways is a member of the Registered Nursing Home Association and is recommended on carehome.co.uk by the families who know us best, and many of our residents are registered with a local GP who visits the home regularly.
Seeing the home for yourself tells you more than any words can. Come and look around Crossways, meet the team who would be caring for your relative, and get a true sense of daily life here.
