At Crossways Care Home, we are always looking for new and engaging ways to create memorable experiences for our residents, and recently, we were delighted to welcome ZooLab UK for a truly unique and interactive visit.

From the moment the team arrived, there was a real sense of curiosity and excitement throughout the home. ZooLab are known for bringing a range of fascinating animals to care settings, and this visit certainly didn’t disappoint. Residents gathered together, eager to see what creatures would be introduced and to learn more about them.

The session began with friendly introductions from the ZooLab team, who immediately created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. They took the time to explain each animal, sharing interesting facts about where they come from, their natural habitats, and their behaviours. It was not only entertaining, but also incredibly educational, sparking plenty of conversation and questions from residents.

Throughout the visit, residents had the opportunity to meet a variety of animals up close. From small, gentle creatures to more unusual and exotic species, each one brought something different to the experience. The handlers ensured that everyone felt comfortable, allowing residents to engage at their own pace, whether that meant simply watching or getting a little closer.

One of the highlights of the day was the chance for residents to interact with the animals. For those who felt confident, there was the opportunity to gently touch or hold some of the creatures under careful supervision. It was wonderful to see residents stepping outside their comfort zones, with many expressing surprise at how calm and gentle the animals were.

It also sparked memories and stories, with some residents recalling past encounters with animals or experiences from earlier in life.
